The Wise Cock and the Wicked Fox

One bright morning, a clever rooster was perched on a tree branch, singing happily. The rooster felt safe up high, enjoying the view of the farm below. Nearby, a hungry fox was sneaking around, looking for food. When the fox saw the rooster, its mouth watered, and it started thinking of a plan to catch the bird. The fox, known for its sly tricks, decided to use flattery to lure the rooster down. “Good morning, my dear friend!” the fox called out sweetly. “I have wonderful news! The animals of the forest have agreed to live in peace from now on. No one will harm anyone. So, come down and let’s celebrate this new friendship.”

The rooster, being wise, didn’t trust the fox. It thought for a moment and decided to test the fox’s words. “Oh, what wonderful news!” said the rooster. “Let me tell my friends about this. Look, they are coming this way now.” The rooster pointed far off in the distance, pretending to see something. Curious, the fox turned to look and saw a pack of hounds running toward the tree. The fox panicked. It was terrified of hounds and started to tremble. “Wait! Don’t leave,” said the rooster, pretending to be surprised. “If the animals are living in peace now, you don’t need to be afraid of the hounds.” But the fox didn’t wait to hear more. It ran away as fast as it could, disappearing into the forest. The rooster chuckled to itself and continued singing happily, proud of outsmarting the fox.
